Three by three: nine equal compartments, each about 14 centimetres across. It isn't a shelf — it's a grid of cubbies, and that changes what goes in it. Each object is framed by its own square, on its own, rather than lined up with the others.

It suits what is small and worth seeing one at a time: ceramics, a collection, succulents, tea caddies. And it works half empty — the unfilled cubbies are part of the rhythm.

Ten centimetres deep and square at 46 by 46, so it sits well on its own or as a pair side by side.

Solid pine with a matte black finish, which makes the inside of each cubby read as shadow and throws forward whatever is in it.

There is also a natural pine version, taller and with twenty cubbies.
